Enjoying a lunch stop at Fish in Sausalito before heading to Wine Country…

Hi there!  Thanks for visiting Spontaneous Agenda.

I’m Donna. One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is reading, planning, researching, talking with friends about… vacations!

I can honestly spend hours planning trips that aren’t even on my immediate list of places to go.  And I love helping people find a lovely place to stay, a wonderful tour guide, or the perfect waterfront restaurant.

Happy Family in the Florida Keys

So thanks for reading.  I truly hope it has brought even the tiniest bit of joy or helpfulness to your day.

Oh, a few other things you need to know:

I live in Raleigh NC with my husband and spunky, gymnast daughter, and most recently, a stray cat who refuses to leave the yard. I enjoy weightlifting, discovering new wines, and am currently on a quest for the perfect buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy.  I rarely enjoy long-distance running, folding laundry, or winter.

My all time favorite places to visit:

Key West:  Can’t get enough of it: My favorite topic to write about.  If I can tear myself away from the Hogs Breath Cam and cursing all the people drinking Coronas while listening to live music in 76 degrees of happiness.

California Wine Country:  I thought I loved Napa. Then I discovered Sonoma.

Asheville, NC:  You can park your car at one of several great hotels, eat your way around town, then hike it off the next day.

Ocracoke, NC: Very off-the-beaten path, pristine beaches, and amazing restaurants for such a small remote island.  Again, no car needed to get around town.

Places I visit (almost) every single year:

Northwest FL.  My family lives in Tallahassee and we have a vacation home in Panama City Beach.  Needless to say we are there a lot and have found some great things to do and places to eat when you find yourself in the area.

Living in the awesome state of North Carolina allows us to spend a lot of time at the coast and the mountains. Asheville, Ocracoke Island, and Duck are my favorites.

Chicago, another place I love ( I met my husband there) and find myself frequently longing to return… in the summertime, that is.

Next Trips:

Winter/ Spring 2015: Louisville, KY
June 2015: Provence, France
July 2015: Ocracoke, NC
August 2015: Chicago, IL

Just Back From:

Summer 2014… Ocracoke Island, NC;  Asheville, NC
Fall 2014:  Big Island, Hawaii
Winter 2015: Duck, NC

Trips I’m planning that currently aren’t even close to being on the agenda yet:  Spanish & Portugese Wine Country, Vieques, and Willamette, OR (more wine is there!),  Anna Maria Island, FL, Isla Holbox, Mexico, and Out Islands, Bahamas.
